Il tunnel che contiene la collezione privata della famiglia è stato ristrutturato nel 1972 ma durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale era un importante via di fuga per l’evacuazione delle oltre 40 famiglie che si nascondevano dentro la Cantina Storica.
The tunnel containing the family’s private collection was renovated in 1972, but during World War II it was an important escape route for the evacuation of the more than 40 families who hid inside the Historic Cellar.
Il 12 luglio 1966, tre anni dopo la promulgazione della legge sulle Denominazioni di Origine, è stato emanato il Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica che ha riconosciuto la Denominazione di Origine controllata (D.O.C.) “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano”, regolamentandone la produzione. Il 1 luglio 1980 il Nobile è divenuto il primo vino in Italia a potersi fregiare delle fascette della Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.), che lo ha classificato tra i vini più prestigiosi nel nostro Paese e nel mondo.
On 12th July 1966, three years after the issue of the Denominazioni di Origine law, the President of the Republic issued a Decree which recognised the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.) “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano”, and prescribed the regulations for its production. On 1st July 1980 the “Nobile” became the first Italian wine to display the neck-strip of the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.) which places it alongside the most prestigious wines in Italy and the world. The first series of “neck-strips” has been kept in Montepulciano at the Consorzio del Vino Nobile.
